Every destination has its own suitable means of transportation. If I have to go from Genoa to Paris, I certainly won't choose the ferry; if I have to go to Barcelona, perhaps I could also consider taking the ferry. There's no single method that's always best, but each has its own unique characteristics and should be chosen carefully based on the destination. One means of transportation is as different as another, just as one medium is as different as another.
